I was so hoping to say that our kitchen was finished. However, that is not to be, yet. After many visits to the showroom, and lots of WhatsApp messages, Manuel finally came yesterday for the final measure before installation sometime next week. I promise as soon as it is installed, I shall share a photo of the finished kitchen. John and I first selected our worktop in May of this year. We had a provisional installation date for after when we returned from our summer holiday in July but, that did not happen. Then there was August when all businesses close for the month. So, I hear you say, what happened in September and October? Well, in September we went to the showroom and Juana, the lady who worked in the showroom, explained to us how Manuel was buying a new larger cutting machine, and employing another worker to use the old machine, so that he could finally catch up a bit, and (his words) better serve his customers. So, towards the end of October, we visited the showroom again, and Juana told us she would talk to Manuel when he returned. Each time I went to the showroom, I would stroke the granite that we had chosen, I cannot wait to see it installed. Unfortunately, the date that Juana gave us for Manuel to come and take final measurements went without any sight of him! So, Wednesday we went to the showroom, yet again. On walking in Juana said that we had come at a good time, as we could talk to Manuel himself, who was in the back in the machine room. Reluctantly he came over, no apologies for not turning up before but, he promised he would be there the next afternoon, and he was. Now I am waiting for the two-day notice of installation, next week please!!

Luca has been with us for six months now. We know this because when we collected him from Murcia the lady said he had a new Scalibor collar (anti flea, tick, leishmaniosis etc.) which would need replacing in six months. As we are going away for Christmas, and someone is coming to look after the house and Luca, we thought we had better get him registered at the vets and get his new collar at the same time. Well, who would have believed it? Luca is an illegal alien (technically) as he is not registered in Andalucia! Who would have thought that a dog born in Spain would be less legal than John or myself who were born in the UK but are resident here! Of course, it is only a technicality due to the fact that Murcia and Andalucia are autonomous regions with their own rules and laws. We have filled out the necessary paperwork (nothing in Spain gets done without paperwork!) paid the necessary fee (again always apparently necessary!) and very soon our precious little dog will be legal.

Last Saturday saw our second gathering of authors, the Autumn Book Fair. I organised it at a bar on the Mojácar coast, called Scotty´s El Tropico. Two of our authors from the Spring Fair could not make it but we did have a new author, not only to us but to publishing. Her first book was published on the 11th of November, just a few weeks ago. Her marketer accompanied her, and it was a pleasure to meet them both, although our contact was too late to change the poster. Unfortunately, we did not have a particularly good turnout, although it was 100% more than the Spring Fair. Nonetheless, during the lull, we had a good chat between us, it is always nice to connect with other writers, to see how they are doing. I also chatted with the bar owner, who took a video of us, and is going to help is promote our Spring Book Fair in the second half of April 2026.

So, that is how life has been going lately. The kitchen will be finished soon, I hope. Luca will be legal soon, I hope. Our Spring book Fair next year will be better attended, I hope! Lots of hoping, but I guess that is part of life. We shall be going to Granada for Christmas, so I promise to share lots of lovely photos with you when we are back.

Do you have any special plans for Christmas? Let me know, as I love to hear from you!
